600 (CITY OF LONDON) SQUADRON PRESENTED NEW ROYAL AUXILIARY AIR FORCE STANDARD

24 June 2023, RAF Northolt – In a parade held at RAF Northolt by 600 (City of London) Squadron, the Representative Lord Mayor of the City of London, Sir Charles Bowman KStJ JP, accompanied by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshall Sir Rich Knighton KCB ADC FREng, has presented a new Royal Auxiliary Air Force Standard to the Squadron.

It is only the second time the Squadron have been presented with an official Standard. The first standard was presented in 1953 by Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother, who was the Squadron’s Honorary Air Commodore.

600 (City of London) Squadron is a Royal Auxiliary Air Force General Service Squadron. The Squadron was formed at RAF Northolt and served predominantly as a fighter squadron including the Battle of Britain, Nort Africa and Italy. More recently, personnel have served on operations in Afghanistan, the Baltic countries, the Balkans, the Falkland Islands, Iraq and the Middle East.

The Squadron now provides trained administrative, logistics, flight operations, intelligence, communications and information systems and medical personnel who are formed into six flights. The Squadron also has a flight of subject matter experts with specialist backgrounds such as aircrew, engineers, chaplains and legal officers.
